This is the most 'I'm going to hell for this' pairing that I've ever shipped. Their relationship is so fucked up. I don't watch the show and squee when they're together because of romantic/sexual tension, but reading fics about it is addicting.
Malcolm is so deliciously fucked up and I love it. He's so complex with all of his trauma and trying his best to deal with it, but at the same time sabotage his own progress. He's a strong person, even though he can only think of himself as 'broken'. He's a beautiful disaster. He's incredibly intelligent, way too stubborn, and super socially awkward. Malcolm naming his bird Sunshine is the best. Malcolm having a pet bird is cute. I love how he chose 'Bright' as his new surname. Both calling his bird Sunshine and choosing 'Bright' as his new name shows the optimism he has about bettering himself. If you're writing about sex, I'd prefer bottom!Malcolm. If you want to be kinky, sub!Malcolm is just *chef's kiss* mwah.
Martin loves his boy. It's been shown that he is terrified of never seeing Malcolm again. I mean he shut down when he thought Malcolm was dead. He does know how much he fucked up Malcolm, but would never acknowledge it out loud. I think he gets off (sexually or otherwise) on his son's intelligence. He does love his family after all these years. Dude has a temper when it's questioned on his love for them or how well he treated them. He's so emotionally starved for interactions. I love how he jokes about murder. I find it fascinating that he's so good at his old profession that he is a consultant despite his crimes.
With this one end it however you want. I can't see them having a happy ending, but it would be interesting. I'm fine with an ambiguous ending or an unhappy ending.
I don't want a gift that has a direct comparison to their history. What I mean is I don't want something where the first half is them in 1999 as father-son, and then skips to 2019 with them as lovers. I'm not into seeing an au where Martin isn't a serial killer. I need them to be in a consensual relationship. No noncon. Even though it's consensual, one or both of them have issues about the nature of their relationship.
As I am writing this I'm behind on episodes (next one to watch is Eye of the Needle). I'll be caught up soon enough so you can use any material from the show.

I didn't ship these guys until I saw multiple posts on tumblr. Now I love them so hardcore. They're so perfect. The ship is canon and it is beautiful. They have proved in the show to have a healthy, loving, long-lasting relationship. Both are devoted to each other and are very protective. I love their hugs, and the little things like Eliot leaving his hand on Q's knee a little too long after reviving him. Eliot has been flirting with Quentin since episode 1 and Q has been flirting right back. I love that the thing Eliot regrets the most is lying to Q when Q asks him out. I love how Eliot is so determined to get out of the Monster and to see Q again. Q's dedication to getting Eliot back is amazing. I am not interested in anything about their life together in that one timeline (referencing it is fine).

These two have become my current obsession. I mean *gestures to the show*. It's right there. There's a reason why Andy & Sid allude to it after all these years. Their relationship is unique and complex. They come from different backgrounds, different cultures, different values, and even so they find enough to have a common ground and build on it throughout the years.
I love their debates on literally anything. You can see it on their faces that they are amused and having fun. They ended up being so close that they could predict each other's moves and thoughts (to an extent of course).
I haven't read any of the books yet. However feel free to use anything from beta canon that you want. I've enjoyed when the beta canon is weaved into fanworks.
Bisexual!Julian gives me life. I'm fine with trans!Julian, but I don't want that to be the focus on the fanwork. I'm fine with Julian being high functioning autistic, but I don't want that to be the focus of the fanwork (showing that he's awkward around people, missing social cues, etc is perfectly fine). I adore Dax and Miles being Julian's best bros. Garak as an unapologetic assassin badass is AMAZING. Those are some of my favorite moments in DS9. I don't like Cardassians with tails and claws.

• Post canon anything. I feel like Julian got so screwed for post canon since the two people he cared about the most on DS9 left with vague promises of seeing him again.

I admit that I was a little bummed that they didn't end up together at the end of season 3. I would hope that if the show had kept going that Erik would have continued to be in Jessica's life. Neither of them are perfect-- they are far from that. They both know it, and accept each other's flaws.

Gil and Malcolm's back story is exquisite. It's so fluffy, angsty, caring, protective, acting like real son and father. There's so much to it that I feel like I can't put it into words. It's more me gesturing to the show than anything else.
Malcolm is so deliciously fucked up and I love it. He's so complex with all of his trauma and trying his best to deal with it, but at the same time sabotage his own progress. He's a strong person, even though he can only think of himself as 'broken'. He's a beautiful disaster. He's incredibly intelligent, way too stubborn, and super socially awkward. Malcolm naming his bird Sunshine is the best. Malcolm having a pet bird is cute. I love how he chose 'Bright' as his new surname. Both calling his bird Sunshine and choosing 'Bright' as his new name shows the optimism he has about bettering himself. If you're writing about sex, I'd prefer bottom!Malcolm. If you want to be kinky, sub!Malcolm is just *chef's kiss* mwah.
Badass motherfucker and protective Gil makes my day. Seriously... dude is a badass. Don't fuck with him or anyone he cares about. Gil is incredibly caring by basically becoming a surrogate father to Malcolm even though he didn't have to. Think of all the ways he helped Malcolm with his mental and emotional issues over the years. How proud he must have been to see him got into Harvard and Quantico (but at the same time saddened when Malcolm left NYC). He isn't afraid to call people on their bullshit. His real fears derive from not being able to protect people. He's dedicated to his job. Gil knows when he needs help and doesn't let that hinder him. He's sentimental of objects (ex his wedding ring and his car).He's such a great character.
As I am writing this I'm behind on episodes (next one to watch is Eye of the Needle). I'll be caught up soon enough so you can use any material from the show.
If you are doing them as a ship, I don't want a fanwork that has a direct comparison to their history. What I mean is I don't want something where the first half is them in 1999 as surrogate father-son, and then skips to 2019 with them as lovers.

Bottom Guo is my favorite, and either/both characters hurting. I *love* the devotion and mutual protectiveness these characters have for each other. I'd really love get together with my hurt/comfort scenarios, first time smut for this ship would be also nice, maybe some kink exploration (Chu's strings, for example ;D either or both could have kinks). But hurt/comfort focused, or hurt focused/emotional draining stories with (eventual?) comfort would be also great! I'm cool with the hurt scenario being an expansion from canon happenings, or something like a missing episode or set in the future, post-canon.
There's a couple of time travel/time change tags, maybe Xiao Guo gains different death-related powers, or travels back in time to fix Lao Chu's past and save Nianzhi's life. What happens from there is up to you - does he succeed? Is Chu going to remember him if he does? Is Changcheng going to start from scratch with new!Lao Chu, or does he grieve for their former friendship/relationship thinking that it's lost? What if they can remember both the timelines somehow? Maybe it's a side-effect of Lao Chu sharing his life energy with Xiao Guo? Or time will reset any attempt at changes? Any other creative idea would be fine, but no bad ending, please.
