As a note, there was some last minute changes to the signup information. We have dropped the number of required offers to three unique fandoms and one relationship per fandom to match the number of required requests. We hope this will make it easier for people to participate.

Hi mods! I nominated two related but distinct fandoms:

魔道祖师 - 墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù
魔道祖师 | Módào Zǔshī (Cartoon)

and while both were approved during nominations, the cartoon is now missing from the tag set. Was that removed intentionally, and if not, would it be possible to add it back? I'd really like to request fic for both versions.

Apologizes, when we were cleaning up the tagset we thought they were duplicates. We'll add the cartoon back in very soon. The only pairing nominated in it was Lán Zhàn | Lán Wàngjī/Wèi Yīng | Wèi Wúxiàn (Hurt Wei Wuxian) (MDZS Cartoon) correct?

I'm mildly confused about how the freeforms work as part of a request,

If my recipient has 8 freeforms, do I have to include all of them in my story?

You do not have to include all the freeforms, you are only required to include one (and it doesn't have to be the one you matched on) but if you do feel like multiple ones work in a story you are welcome to include as many as you want.

I just noticed that a ship I nommed (02 Chosen Children | DigiDestined & Partner Digimon (hurt Chosen)) was approved, but isn't actually showing up in the tagset.

I don't think it's the length issue, because other longer tags went through fine.

Is it still going to be possible to request/offer it at this point?

I remember approving it and adding it to the tagset, I have no clue why it vanished but I added it back in for requesting/offering.

Can I just be sad here? Because there isn't a single request I can write, so I can't sign up. It's not anyone's fault, I just don't know a lot of the popular fandoms and the few ships in fandoms I do know are ones I can't write. It just happened to be that way, and I'm sad, because this is an exchange I would love to do, because h/c is my jam (and I have so many things I would request). But perhaps it is not to be. :(

There are a few Original Work requests, if you missed them? Right now there are 9 and they're on page 16 when you sort by fandom.

Trouble is, I don't think I can write a main character that I don't already know. I only ever write fanfic. I've not written original fic since some very terrible attempts in high school years upon years ago. Developing characters is difficult for me, and I almost never use OCs in fic (and when I do they are only very minor parts). And looking at the list of original work ships… most of the possible ships there hit squicks or just plain "nope" buttons for me and the tiny rest of them I couldn't even begin to think of a scenario to put them in. If I did try to write them, I can tell it would end up absolutely awful, and I wouldn't wish that on them. It's a good suggestion, and I appreciate you trying to help! I just know to steer clear of Original Work if I want my writing to turn out good. Having familiar characters and (in most cases) settings is part of what helps me write and do a decent job of it. (I never do the original work exchanges, obviously, nor Jukebox, for the same reason.)

I can usually find a book or film or something I can write for, even if it's not one I am particularly fannish about, but no such luck this time… And it's not like there are absolutely no fandoms I know - but the ships requested in the two fandoms I do know are ones I can't write at all, which is somewhat unusual for me.

Though this isn't the first exchange I've had to not sign up for because I couldn't find a request to write for, it's just one that I really really wanted to be able to. (NoFM last year I pretty much expected that I wouldn't find something to write, because it's like Yuletide but with a LOT fewer people, which means a lot fewer chances of me finding a fandom I know.)

On the bright side, I think I *just* spotted a request at last that I might be able to write. Will be a challenge, but I'm totally game, since it's a challenge I am pretty sure I can handle. :D *does happy dance and goes to sign up*

:D I am very happy, and wading through the freeforms in excitement. I'd seen there were Original Work requests, but I knew not to check those because of my difficulty with original fic. This new-ish request (not saying when it appeared other than I don't think I spotted it right away), however, is a fandom I can write, which makes me very happy. :)
